Dr Liju Ahmed is a specialist in the treatment of Respiratory diseases including Pleural disease (benign, malignant and infections), Pleural interventions (Ultrasound guided pleural procedures, Indwelling pleural catheter, Thoracoscopy level 1 and 2), Pulmonary interventions (Bronchoscopy, Diathermy, Cryotherapy, Tumour debulking, Stenting), Airways dilatation, Lung cancer, COPD and Asthma, Severe airways disease, Endobronchial Lung volume reduction, Respiratory autoimmune disease, Breathlessness and general respiratory conditions.

Dr Ahmed is currently the Clinical Lead for pleural disease and pulmonary interventions at Guys & St. Thomas NHS Foundation Trust. His research interest is in pleural disease and interventions especially in severe airways disease. He is a chief investigator in different clinical trials and has been principal investigator and co-investigator in several clinical trials. He has published in several peer reviewed high impact journals and also presented at a number of national and international meetings
