Dr Daniel Martin qualified from the University of Leicester in 1997. He underwent training in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine in London and completed a PhD at University College London.
He was appointed as an Honorary Consultant at the Royal Free Hospital and Senior at University College London in 2011. He recently became a Reader in Perioperative and Intensive Care Medicine.
His research interests include human adaptation to hypoxia, microcirculatory blood flow, mitochondrial function and perioperative intravenous fluid use. He is accredited in cardiopulmonary exercise testing.
Dr Martin was awarded Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his role in the treatment of patients with Ebola in the UK at the Royal Free Hospital.
