The London Clinic, its services, staff and consultants are accredited in a range of fields, details of which are listed on this page.

The excellent international reputation of the charity continues to attract some of London’s most renowned consultants, many of whom are prominent leaders in their field; the majority of consultants working at the Charity also hold clinical, academic and/or teaching posts in the NHS.

Stem cell transplantation

For many patients suffering from blood-related cancer such as leukaemia, a stem cell transplant is often the only chance of a cure and The London Clinic takes great pride in being one of the only independent hospital in the UK to offer bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cell collection.

Anthony Nolan, the UK’s blood cancer charity, has been working with The London Clinic for over 17 years to provide bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cell collection services for their unrelated stem cell donors.

Our facilities include a large dedicated area for collecting the stem cells from donors’ blood using apheresis machines. The Charity also supports the full-time employment of a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Apheresis who works within the Charity and outside to promote the aims of stem cell transplantation.

The London Clinic is regulated by JACIE and regulated by the Human Tissue Authority (HTA). The Clinic has an HTA licence for tissue and cell procurement, processing, storage, testing, distributing, import and export and research, organ donation and transplant.

The work carried out by the stem cell unit at The London Clinic is supported by our on-site pathology laboratory, which includes a dedicated stem cell laboratory that is accredited by both JACIE and the UK Accreditation Sevice (UKAS) and regulated by the Human Tissue Authority (HTA).

In addition to supporting the in-house bone marrow collection service, the stem cell laboratory also carries out work for Anthony Nolan, the British Bone Marrow Registry (BBMR) and DKMS and a large London NHS trust. All scientists working with the laboratory are Health Professions Council (HPC) registered.

Within pathology, biochemistry, haematology (including blood transfusion and flow cytometry), microbiology (including immunology) and histopathology are accredited by UKAS under the international standard ISO15189:2012.

Currently certified to ISO 13485:2016 and EN ISO 13485:2016 for the decontamination and high level disinfection of flexible endoscopes and accessories.

Our Radiotherapy and Medical Physics department have held the ISO9001 Quality Management System certification since September 2010. Our Radiotherapy, Medical Physics and Radionuclide therapy services are currently ISO9001:2015 certified and accredited under the Comparitive Health Knowledge System (CHKS) for Oncology Services.

We have submitted data to ICNARC since 2003 which is routinely evaluated against other providers of ICU services.
