Cardiology screening
The London Clinic provides advanced cardiology
screening in the most comfortable surroundings.
Electrocardiogram
The electrocardiogram (ECG) looks at the electrical conduction
pathways around the heart. The heart's electrical activity is
measured for evaluation by The London Clinic's expert team. The
test may be performed with the patient resting or exercising on a
treadmill (an exercise or stress ECG). Alternatively the ECG may be
recorded over a longer period (an ambulatory or Holter ECG). The
test is painless, non-invasive and takes about 10 minutes to
perform.
Echocardiogram
The echocardiogram uses ultrasound technology (similar to that
used in pregnancy scanning), which looks at the structure of the
heart. Our expert team is able to use the resulting data to assess
the state of the heart chambers, muscle, valves and blood flow. The
test is painless, non-invasive and usually takes about 30
minutes.
Blood pressure monitoring
Blood pressure monitoring is normally carried out over a 24-48
hour period. The patient wears a small monitor which can easily be
hidden under clothes. This records blood pressure on an hourly
basis over a period of time. The test is painless and non-invasive.
It takes about 15 minutes to attach the monitor to the patient and
the patient has to return the device after use for analysis.
