Erectile dysfunction and sexual disorders

Erectile dysfunction overview

Ten per cent of men have an erection problem (impotence). Eighty per cent of them have an underlying illness (organic), though many men have a combination of organic and psychological problems.  According to MMAS, 52% of men over 40 years of age will have some incidence of erectile dysfunction.

Treatments

 

ED therapies can only be prescribed by GPs at NHS expense for men with one or more of the conditions listed below. Although there is no restriction on the number of treatment doses that can be prescribed each month for eligible men, GPs have been advised to prescribe four doses a month for most men. Other men will be offered private prescriptions and will have to pay for the full cost of therapies, whether they are prescribed by NHS GPs or by private practitioners.
