The London Clinic Upgrades State-Of-The-Art
Robot
The London Clinic, one of the UK’s most
established hospitals, has invested over £1 million in an upgraded
version of one of its state-of-the-art surgical robots. The
prestigious hospital has purchased the daVinci S Surgical
System®, demonstrating its continued commitment to
providing the most advanced surgical care for all their
patients.
The new robot, which will replace the
existing daVinci model, will enable surgeons to perform
more complex, minimally invasive procedures, including gastric
bypasses, many gynaecological procedures, nephrectomies,
colorectal, liver and radical prostatectomies.
The new system integrates 3D HD endoscopy and
state-of-the-art robotic technology to virtually extend the
surgeon’s eye and hands into the surgical field. Advantages over
the previous model include unparalleled 3D HD visualisation,
enhanced dexterity, precision and control, superior ergonomics,
fast, foolproof set-up and streamlined interface.
Malcolm Miller, Chief Executive of The London
Clinic, says: “We are delighted to be the first independent
hospital in the UK to purchase the S model. We were one of the
first hospitals to introduce this technology to the UK back in 2005
and have carried out more than 300 radical prostatectomy procedures
to date.
“Providing progressive technological advances
in surgical equipment is an extremely important growth area for The
London Clinic and one that we are prepared to invest heavily in,
ensuring we continue to provide the very best in medical treatments
and patient care.”
