Helping to treat more people, faster

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with one woman diagnosed every 10 minutes - so early breast cancer screening is critical for the detection of changes such as breast lumps, nipple discharge, pain, asymmetry, or lumps under the armpit, and subsequent recovery.

You do not need a GP referral to access our personalised diagnostics service. It is available for any patient already experiencing symptoms, as well as those with concerns such as a family history of cancer. You’ll receive a same-day consultation and one-stop triple assessment, which includes a comprehensive evaluation of any changes in the nipple, to help us build a clear picture of your breast health. Patients will see a consultant, go for imaging and tests, and even have a same-day biopsy if required.

The Triple Assessment

If you feel an unexplained lump or notice a change in your breasts or nipples, get in touch to arrange an appointment within 48 hours. You do not need a GP referral. Our gold standard approach begins with a triple assessment, during which you will receive:

A comprehensive consultation reviewing your personal and family history, plus a full diagnostic breast exam.

Imaging tests with either our 3D mammogram or a private breast ultrasound, whichever is more appropriate.

Histopathology, which includes a same-day biopsy if required. The results of which are usually available within 2-3 days.

Kelly Hoppen CBE: The importance of early diagnosis

Kelly Hoppen is a world-renowned interior designer, but many people may not know she’s also a breast cancer survivor. Like many other women, she fell into the pattern of postponing her mammograms, only to be taken aback when her latest screening revealed a diagnosis of cancer. Fortunately, Kelly’s cancer was detected early and she received treatment at The London Clinic. Happily, this was successful and she was able to move on to live a healthy, fulfilling life. Now she’s a strong champion for women to look after their personal health, and is keen to share her story. Watch our video now.

Detecting and diagnosing breast cancer

Breast cancer is a cancer that significantly impacts women globally, but it can also affect men too. That’s why regular screenings and attention to breast changes are vital. Lumps, nipple discharge, breast pain, asymmetry, changes in the nipple, or lumps under the armpit, all warrant expert consultation. Our world-class team can diagnose breast cancer using mammography, MRI, and biopsies to distinguish between cancerous and benign growths. Early detection often leads to successful treatment, with high survival rates for early-stage breast cancer.

Depending on the stage, we may recommend monitoring or immediate treatment. Advanced cases often require surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone therapy, or targeted treatments. The London Clinic is the only private hospital in the UK that provides full cancer treatment, including surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiotherapy. We are also one of the largest private centres to provide all types of breast reconstruction, including microvascular surgery, implant-based reconstructions and DIEP flaps.

Weekly breast MDTs

Every week our surgeons get together in a multi-disciplinary team meeting (MDT) to discuss imaging findings, the results of biopsies, and to decide the most coordinated responses for treatment.

By having these meetings weekly, as opposed to fortnightly, we can help our patients get started on their treatment sooner. Plus, this collaborative approach means you can feel safe and secure knowing every possible option is being discussed.
