Imaging technology at The London Clinic is wide-ranging and comprehensive. Patients can access many types of scanning and imaging methods on-site with results delivered quickly to consultants who can then use detailed imaging data to make a diagnosis and start a course of treatment.

Our breast centre uses the best in advanced equipment to enable our consultants to offer extensive breast imaging facilities and accurate diagnosis in a discreet and welcoming environment.

This includes two digital mammography units, one with tomographic capabilities (it can visualise ‘slices’ through the tissue at different points and in different planes), and ultrasound equipment with the latest in elastography technology. This can be used to determine whether a suspicious lump is likely to be cancerous or benign.

The imaging suite also offers a full range of interventional breast procedures including fine needle aspiration (FNA), core needle biopsy, stereotactic core needle biopsy, vacuum-assisted biopsy and pre-operative wire localisation.

We offer a comprehensive range of CT scanning techniques and technology, including CT colonography and cardiac studies, with sophisticated systems that keep radiation doses to a minimum.

The Siemens High Speed 128 slice AS+ Definition and 64 slice Biograph mCT multi-slice scanners provide high speed scanning leading to much shorter scan times and an improved patient experience. All images can often be acquired in the same breath hold giving better quality images that allow for more complex and detailed examinations.

The London Clinic has 2 Siemens MRI scanners designed to deliver a complete range of scans and procedures.

Our Siemens Magnetom Avanto 1.5T MRI Suite offers superior imaging quality with a larger field of view and higher resolution, and a more comfortable patient experience through shorter scan times and quieter scanning. The suite also has full anaesthetic capabilities for interventional procedures and claustrophobic patients.

Our Siemens Magnetom Espree 1.5T MRI Suite has a wide bore, a table weight limit of 250 kg and an open magnet, allowing for up to 60 % of procedures to be performed with the patient’s head outside the bore of the scanner, making this suite very suitable for larger or claustrophobic patients.

Our nuclear medicine department offers a comprehensive range of investigations including PET-CT scanning. These are performed by highly qualified staff and consultants using the most technologically advanced equipment available.

These procedures include bone scans, cardiac studies, gastro-intestinal studies, kidney studies, lung studies, lymphatic drainage studies, parathyroid scanning, sentinel node imaging, thyroid imaging and white cell infection scanning.

We also provide a range of consultant-led therapeutic procedures including radioiodine thyroid ablation (destruction of thyroid tissue using radioactive iodine) and radiosynovectomy (destruction of inflamed soft tissue in a joint using targeted radiation therapy).
