Publications

At UCL together with colleagues from the Institute of Urology at UCL I have supervised 6 research fellows who have progressed towards higher degrees (2PhDs, 4 MDs) as well as 1 post doctoral fellow. I also contribute a major degree of the "editorial" input of the submissions for both national and international academic meetings as well as publications (since 2003 more than 100 published abstracts)

 

At ASHC my research is aimed at service development (eg the development of young peoples services, postal results and asymptomatic screening and has led to many publications

Teaching

Organiser of local STIF course, which aims to educate local GPs and other sexual health providers re the management of STIs. This involves 4 courses per year for which I not only organise the programme but am involved significantly in the delivery. As well as this “theory” training I also organise/deliver “practical” training for local GPs and practice nurses at ASHC. I have modified this course significantly to better address local needs.

 

Co-developer of innovative combined STIF/DFFP course

which was presented for the 1st time in 2006.

 

Led the development of new competence based curriculum for GUM and presented curriculum to PMETB.

 

Lead for the Higher Training committee of the FFP on the development of the special skills module in sexual dysfunction as well as on  the development of the STI component of their curriculum.

 

Author of 3 books on sexual dysfunction aimed at "non expert" doctors and/ or interested patients.

 

Nationally I lead for BASHH (with the president) on relationship with the all party parliamentary sexual health group which aims at educating MPS  and memebers of the public about current issues.
